New from Breeze - Adjustable Shocks! Released on Apr 25, 2011
Today Breeze is introducing externally adjustable front and rear coil-over shock kits for 3-link Roadsters and Coupes. They are based on the QA1 Proma-Star Aluminum bodied shock. The Proma-Stars were designed from the ground-up for use as a coil-over shock and have some really neat features, the most beneficial being 18 positions of adjustment! On the single adjustable, both compression and rebound damping are adjusted simultaneously with one knob. This allows total suspension control in one easy to reach location. These are a great choice for a sweet handling street car. On the double adjustable, compression and rebound are adjusted independently via knobs marked “C” and “R”, giving the ultimate tunability for the street or track. Other notable features are a beefy 5/8” solid shock shaft, integrated spring perch adjustment threads on the aluminum body, stainless thrust washer for the spring seat, progressive polyurethane bump stop, Breeze designed stainless steel combination jam nut and steel shaft-end rod end for strength and ease of assembly, and stainless steel shock bolt spacers. Even with all these features they are priced competitively. Single adjustable pairs are $495.00 and the double adjustable pairs are $645.00.

FAQs:
What spring rates are available?
The front kits are available with 500lb/in or 450lb/in springs. The rear kits are available with 300lb or 250lb/in springs. These rates were chosen based on forum comments from people who had switched from the FFR Bilsteins to the FFR Koni’s. Some, but not all, feel their front Koni’s with 500lb/in springs were too stiff for their liking so we are offering a 450lb choice to be a tad more compliant.
In the rear, most comments were that the Koni’s on the rear with 350lb/in springs are too stiff, so we configured our rear kits with a choice of 300lb/in or 250lb/in.
For reference, spring rates originally offered by FFR with the Bilsteins were 450 front, 250 rear for solid axle. Stock spring rates for FFR Koni’s are 500 front, 350 rear for solid axle.
Free spring exchange program: Don’t fret too much over your choice of spring rate. Breeze will be happy to exchange your springs for a different rate if you decide you want something softer or harder. Since the shocks are adjustable you will easily be able to accommodate any spring installed. QA1 springs are available from 200 – 650lb/in.
Are these shocks gas pressurized?
No, these shocks are not gas pressurized. This means there is no “nose pressure” on the shock shaft – the shock itself does not add to the spring rate. These shocks are gas-bagged. The gas bag accommodates the internal volume change that occurs when the shaft moves in and out of the body, and prevents the gas from becoming entrained in the shock oil.
Are these shocks dyno tested?
Yes, every shock is hand assembled, dyno tested, and serialized in Lakeville, Minnesota.
Can these shocks be rebuilt?
Yes, if the need should ever arise, the shocks are rebuildable by the QA1 factory.
Where are the shocks made?
The shocks are assembled, tested and serialized in Lakeville, Minnesota from parts manufactured worldwide including China. The 2-1/2” ID silver powder-coated and marked springs are made in China.
I only run Hyperco springs on my cars – can I buy the kits less the springs?
Yes, Our QA1 springs sell for $36.00 each so your cost would be reduced by $72.00 per kit if you provide your own springs.
Are these shocks lighter than my FFR Koni’s?
Yes, since the Proma-Stars have an aluminum body they are much lighter than the Koni’s (about 1 – ½ lbs lighter). The QA1 springs however are made with more coils of larger diameter wire for a given spring rate and are heavier than the springs shipped with the FFR Koni’s. As a result the complete coil-over shock assemblies weigh about the same.
Are these shocks compatible with QA1’s new Wireless Remote Adjust System?
Yes, all of the shocks Breeze is shipping are the all new and improved QA1 adjustable shocks and are compatible with the QA1 Wireless Remote Adjust System. 2-channel for use with single adjustable shocks and 4-channel for use with double adjustable shocks.
What do you have for my IRS equipped car?
We have only verified 3-link fitment so-far. We are told the shorter bodied front shocks should fit the IRS rear as well. The FFR IRS is supplied with 750lb springs and available QA1 spring range tops out at 650lb/in. Any 2-1/2” ID spring can be used on the QA1 shock however, so if you would like to use your existing springs and are willing to do a little test fitting on you IRS car we should be able to work something out. For the front, as long as you have the FFR Tubular Front Lower Control Arms you are good to go.
